this question is a tricky one
the number of boys or girls you have given birth to doesn't affect your future offsprings so it's 1/2 because it is either a boy or a girl

Male have two distinct s*x chromosomes (XY)
While Female Two Of The Same Kind Of Chromosomes (XX). Now 4 de female it becomes 1 because the two chromosome are the same and for the male it has two difference chromosome which are of different kind nd is represented as 2.
therefore 1/2

The probability of having a boy or a girl is determined by the father contribution as the mother will always contribute an X chromosome
if each man-fluid cell carrying either X or Y chromosome has an equal chance of fertilising the egg the probability of having a girl i.e receiving an X chromosome from the father is 50% or 1/2
