Ecological succession is the process by which the mix of species and habitat in an area changes over time. Gradually, these communities replace one another until a “climax community”—like a mature forest—is reached, or until a disturbance, like a fire, occurs.

myshcool is very correct..
as Ecological succession takes place, ecological communities are replaced with the aim of forming a climax community.
During this time, more plants and insects species arrise drawing herbivores and carnivores with they respective omnivores as well.In an overview there will exist within the ecological community a more diverse collection of life forms in bith animals and plansts (specie diversity 🤝)

The main causes of ecological succession include the biotic and climatic factors that can destroy the populations of an area. Wind, fire, soil erosion and natural disasters include the climatic factors.

Increasing species diversity can influence ecosystem functions — such as productivity — by increasing the likelihood that species will use complementary resources and can also increase the likelihood that a particularly productive or efficient species is present in the community.
