Natural Selection occurs partly because random mutations arise in the genome of an individual organism, and their offspring can inherit such mutations. Throughout the lives of the individuals, their genomes interact with their environments to cause variations in traits.

The correct answer is A(gene mutation) and not D(climate change). The root cause of natural selection is naturally occurring mutations that are then selected for or against by the environment, in that traits having survival advantage are favoured and increasingly passed on to the next generation, while traits harmful to survival are constantly weeded out by the death of individual bearing those traits. Thus, the correct answer is A(gene mutation) and not D(climate change). Please the necessary corrections should be made. Thank you.
