The prothallus, also called the gametophyte, is formed from spores. This gametophyte bears the male and female s*x organs, the antheridia and the archegonia respectively. The male produces man-fluid which fertilises the female ovum and the fertilised oven eventually grow into a sporophyte whose sporangium produces spores.
