Bacteria in root nodules derive **protection and carbohydrates** from the host plant. The plant provides the bacteria with shelter and organic nutrients such as sugars. So, the correct answer is **Option D**.

The selected answer is wrong:
the plants provide the bacteria with shelter and organic nutrients such as sugar and vitamins
REF: Check:Modern Biology,Page 140

The root nodule derive "protection and carbohydrate" from the host plant ,so the answer is wrong, please make correction to this ,so that people like those who don't know the answer will not be miss guided

Myschool Change This Thing Na, at least a reference has been given. The Correct Answer Is D!

The ans is wrong cos d plant provide the bacteria shelter and organic nutrients.Examples of organic nutrients are carbohydrates, protein, fats etc, inorganic we have water, mineral etc,so d ans should be protection and carbohydrate.

The anwer is D. It obviously can't be protection and minerals after all those bacteria help fix minerals themselves. E.g: Rhizobium fixes atmospheric nitrogen and so doesn't need it's host plant to give it nitrogen.
Also, it's definitely Carbohydrates too because these bacteria need the energy from carbohydrates to be able to carry out the reduction process. Hence the symbiosis.
I suppose this is sufficient to prove our claim. Please the necessary corrections should be made. Thanks!

Greetings, The Myschool Team.
The correct answer is D(Protection and carbohydrates) and not A(Protection and minerals). Some of the contributions of my colleagues are worth noting here. Please the necessary corrections should be made. Thank you.
