When a Spirogyra filament is placed in a concentrated (hypertonic) salt solution, the following biological process occurs:
Exosmosis: The concentration of solutes outside the cell is higher than the concentration of the cell sap. As a result, water moves out of the cell through the semi-permeable membrane by osmosis.
Plasmolysis: As water leaves the vacuole, the turgor pressure decreases. This causes the cytoplasm and the plasma membrane to shrink away from the rigid cell wall.
Result: A cell in this state is described as being plasmolysed.
In contrast, if the cell were placed in pure water (hypotonic), it would take in water and become turgid (Option B).

It is placed in concentrated salt solution so it will lose its own water through osmosis because the solution is more concentrated than its own moisture content so it lose wate and becomes plasmolysed it only becomes turgid when placed in a hypotonic solutionb (not concentrated) so its gains water and becomes turgid. Turgidity of plants cells gives it strength. When its plasmolysed it wils and die since there is no water content to give it strength
