Hahaha
Bark and phloem is still de same they transfer food material to the entire body of a plant
Xylem is responsible 4 mineral and water transport which is still intact. ✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️

D is very correct.
when Phloem is removed, the plant still has sugars and nutrients stored which can last for somewhile before it dies due to deficiency of nutrients as sugar and nutrients will no longer be transported to parts of the plant when the stored one is exhausted.
The Xylem would still temporarily transport minerals and water to the plant, but it will be insufficient for the plant and it will eventually die off due to lack of sugar and nutrients.

Plant dies after 2 days when phloem is removed from a stem the bark get swollen which do not allow manufacured food to move. The plant doesn't die immediately but after sometime.

Closest answer is B

Hmm... English

after deep reseach: the correct answer to this is D sure.

If the phloem is removed then the transportation of substances won't take place and plants would not get the needed requirements to carry out its process and at last, the plant dies

the answer can't be D it's either A or B

the answer can't be D

no it's A please You guys are really confusing me in some answers

Actually, the answer is D
Though i missed it, but looking at it critically, B ois a less

mitchelleivan

me I think it is D because movement of minerals is hardly affected is a role of the xylem so xylem would be least affected

Sorry,
i was saying that B is less accurate becausew it is almost impossible to determine the specific time that the plant would die.

Therefore D is the most accurate.

How is it D?
Even on this app, I've come across this questions many times and the answer is always B... How come it's now A?

You guys should explain, please.

When you remove a ring of bark from a stem, you also remove the phloem (because phloem is in the bark).
But the xylem (for water + minerals) is inside and remains untouched.
So what happens?
✅ What is affected?
Phloem → movement of food → affected
Food made by leaves cannot move down to the roots.
Roots slowly starve.
Plant does not die immediately.
Xylem → movement of water & minerals → hardly affected
Xylem is deeper and not removed.
Water and mineral movement continues normally.
⭐ Correct Answer: D — Movement of minerals is hardly affected
This matches the correct scientific explanation:
Food transport is affected (blocked).
Mineral/water transport is NOT affected.
Plant does not die immediately, but it will die later if the ring is not healed.
