i think the ans should be genes,Small sections of the DNA holds Genes and Genes carries the genetic code of the parents which can be transferred to their offspring. example a man has Brown eyes(B) with a wife of Blue eyes(b) gave birth to a boy with blue eyes.we say the allels Genes of the wife is dominant. the boy genotype will be bb and his phenotype Blue as the physical characteristics from his mother.
