incomplete dominance

this is the ability of two contrasting allele to interact and produce a heterozygous phenotype that is different from the two homozygous phenotypes

example:a pure breeding red flower mirabilis jalapa when crossed with a pure breeding white flowered plant produce F1 plants that bear pink flowers.

it was Mendel that proposed it

RR= red

rr= white

if you cross them, f1 generation will all be pink flowers

In lay man understanding,if a black man marries a black lady,the offspring is expected to be black..but in a scenario where the offspring is pure oyinbo....den it is an incomplete domunance.i.e if d product does not resemble either parents...like mixing red paint+white paint=pink paint(d pink paint resembles none of the parent paints).

The answer is co-dominance.co-dominance is a condition in a heterozygote in which both alleles have equal dominance , and the phenotype is a mixture of the opposing characters. From the question a cross between white and red flowers produce pink flower. This means the white and red flowers have equal dominance,because offspring produced is neither red nor white but mixure of the two. NOTE: There is repetition of with a white flowered plant in the question.

Hi I think the answer is A codominance.

The answer is incomplete dominance becos accordin to d principles of mendel, genes are dominant or recessive;the dominant expressin itsf in homozygous or heterozygous state ie the f1 flowers shud have been 3 red and 1 white but n incomplete dominance, the f1 flowers are pink and d f2 plants re 1 red, 2 pink n 1 white. Consult d essential bio chap 31 pg 416.

the anx is incomplete dominance.it is d ability of 2 constrasting alleles( Red)and (white) to interact and produce a heterozygous phenotype that is different frm d 2 homozygous phenotype

From all u explanations can sumone explain the difference b/w option A and option B

d ans. z Incomplete dominant; coz when the heterozygote has a different intermidiate phenotype compared 2 d homozygous dominant or recessive individual.

eg; d flower of d snapdragon plant can b red, pink or white. d genotype RR (dominant) results in red flower & rr (recessive) results in white flower, d heterozygotegenotype of Rr results in pink flower.

and Codominant is when there is a cross b/w organism wit 2 different phenotype produces offspring wit a third phenotype in which both of d parental traits appear together:

I remember codominant in d form of an example like dis; red*white ==> red&white.

Or d common eg:

a cattle can b red RR = (all red hairs), WW = (all white hairs) = RW ==> Red & White hairs together.

I think this explains the question.

Incomplete dominance is when the phenotypes of the two parents blend together to create a new phenotype for their offspring. An example is a white flower and a red flower producing pink flowers. Codominance is when the two parent phenotypes are expressed together in the offspring.

Codominance, as it relates to genetics, refers to a type of inheritance in which two versions (alleles) of the same gene are expressed separately to yield different traits in an individual.
Here they are of same Gene for codominance
And different Gene of parents for incomplete dominance
