The major excretory products are carbon dioxide, excess water, and nitrogenous compounds like ammonia, urea, uric acid.
It is simply a matter of definition. Because feces are basically the remnants, remains, leftovers of food ingested but not digested (hence the remains,) its removal is named egestion.
