Alkaline pyrogallol absorbs water and oxygen. So it is used in photosynthesis to test for the importance of water as one of the materials necessary for photosynthesis to take place.
The leaf of a destarched potted plant is enclosed in a conical flask containing alkaline pyrogallol solution. This is the experiment. other leaves of the plant serve as the control. The plant is left in sunlight.
After some hours, the leaf is plucked and tested for starch. it will been seen that while the other leaves show the presence of starch, the leave enclosed does not. This is because the alkaline pyrogallol solution has absorbed the water. Thus, water is one of the essential materials for photosynthesis.

Alkaline pyrogallol is used 2 absorb oxyen 4rm any mixture so let's pick our answer by elimination method nd wit dis photosynthesis is d only option dat cn release oxygen 4rm its reaction which d oxygen will later be absorbed by alkaline pyrogallol...so option E is d answer

Alkaline pyrogallol was used in an experiment must have been connected with germination because alkaline pyrogallol is used to absorb oxygen in an experiment, showing that oxygen is necessary for germination.so please no offense it wrong.

it is germintation.... oxygen is never needed in photosynthesis... it is just a bye-product... while adequate supply of oxygen is essential for germination.... landlady biology textbook page 65.....myschool do d correction....
the only valid test to show d evolution of oxygen during photosynthesis is the splint-test,so i guess it shud be germination

The correct answer remained "B" as alkaline pyrogallol is used in the control experiment on seed germination to absorb oxygen from air, which is an essential requirement to provide energy needed for seed germination by oxidizing carbohydrates. QED!!!!!!!!
