it(the rectum)is found just before the anus .but since anus isn't there rectum can therefore be said to be the correct answer

anus is a part of the rectum (terminal of the rectum) while the appendix is a partof the alimentary canal that mainly breakdown vitamin B3 (although it's still being studied)
