the truth is.... the jamb question setters should be open for questioning.
they are the ones putting students to failure.
the ER ( Endoplasmic Reticulum) ,IS reponsible for protein synthesis, packing, modification and transport.
The Ribosomes also do a core function of protein synthesis,. Thereby, making two answers A and B correct and making the question wrong....
the marking scheme may have either A or B as correct answer and making the unfortunate intelligent student fail.
its a pity

Yea the answer is B cuz the question was not specific in this sense, as they did not connote whether its rough or smooth endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Now listen, Er helps in the function of transpiration and synthesis of protein and lipids but its based on whether its rough or smooth Er. If it had been rough Er it A would have been the answer or if it was smooth the answer would have been in the synthesis of lipids . so now the answer is B cuz there were not specific on it . please don't confuse yourself.

B is d correct answer because endoplasmic reticulum is used to transport materials within cytoplasm

Hey guys, listen to me. Jamb usually has vague questions and this one is no exception. The endoplasmic reticulum is used for protein synthesis, transport, and packaging of materials. The answer depends on whether it is a rough or smooth reticulum. I can't blame myschool for choosing B but the answer is between A or B.

Ribosomes which synthesize proteins are found on the surface of the rough endoplasmic reticulum, it then packs and transports these proteins from one part of the cell to another. Smooth endoplasmic reticulum is involved in lipid and steroid synthesis, packaging and transport. Therefore the answer is B because even the rough endoplasmic reticulum does not synthesize protein, it transports it.
