The initial volume of water poured into 60g bag of dry soil was 50ml and the amount that drained through was 35ml. The percentage water content of the fully soaked soil is therefore

Water Content (%) = [(Volume of water retained by soil) / (Weight of dry soil)] ร 100
In this case:
1. Initial volume of water poured into the soil = ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ฅ
2. Amount of water that drained through = 35 ml
- Water retained by soil = 50 ml - 35 ml = ๐๐ ๐ฆ๐ฅ
3. Weight of dry soil = 60 g
Water Content (%) = (15 / 60) ร 100
Water Content (%) = 25.0%
So, the correct answer is:
๐. ๐๐.๐

the question has 60g but in the explanation they used 50g
Just reducing my spirit in this jamb ๐ช๐ช

The question says 60g
dry soil was 50kg
amount drain is 35kg
i.e 50-35/60ร100 =25.0kg

The selected answer is wrong:
Answer should be Total mass of water/total mass of soaked soil * 100/1,total mass of water is initial mass of water-drained mass of water-->50-35=15,total mass of soaked soil is 60 not 50 since 60 is the mass of the bag,therefore 15/60*100/1=25

It is 25 na 50-35/60
15/60ร100
25 please if am wrong correct me so I won't make d mistake in d exam hall please

the 60g bag is not neccessary.
so the answer is 30
initial volume - final volume.
50-35=15
15รท50=0.3
0.3ร100
=30

MYSCHOOL I'm not sure how you got 30 as an answer but I think it's wrong. The right answer should be 20. Here's why;
50ml of water was added but 35ml drained out. So 15ml of water was left. The total volume of the mixture should then be taken as 60ml+15ml = 75ml (NB:The 60ml is the initial volume of the soil,its a normal rule to convert g to ml when dealing with volume)
So therefore the percentage of water present= (15/75)ร100 =20%
