Physiological variations are not detected by simply observing an organism, a test is usually required for the determination of a physiological variation.
It should be noted that all physiological variations exist as discontinuous variation e.g blood groups, ability to taste PTC, tongue rolling etc

It is discontinuous variation i.e physiological variation because it varies. Its is kind of a natural acquired taste and therefore cannot be passed to offspring.
