xylem absorbs water and minerals from the soil and carries it to the plant through the stem which causes the stem to be strong. #turgidity

Here is an explanation:
The basic function of the xylem is to transport water as well as nutrients from the roots to the stem, therefore the continuous flow of water keeps the stem turgid in other words (strengthening)it

Yap it A simply bcos xylem supplies water to the plant plant and when this water is been supplied to the plant it will help to strenghten the plant very well

U all talked about d transport action....y not divide on d main reason...d wall of xylem.....it is lignified(i.e there is deposition of lignin-a tough substance), this gives xylem its strenght and thus suitable as a strengthening tissue

A is the ans because stems of most trees are majorly made up of xylem resulting from the secondary growth of the vascular cambium which is a meristimatic tissue and a thin sorrounding phleom which have hollow sieve tubes for the transportation of manufactured food.

Sadly, you guys are ryt...xylem is indeed a supportive tissue helping in the strengthening nd transportatn of water 2ru the vascular system of d plant...gat ntn much 2 say.A's correct, jst lyk u guys are.

it is A. because xylem vessel have distinctive wall patterns, formed by the wax lignin was deposited on the primary cell wall.
It is a minor case the answer true bc it help to transport water &mineral in an upward direction in the plant ploem transport water&desolue sugar
