Theer are four(4) blood groups which are A,B,AB and O. Blood group A has antigen A and antibody B. Blood group B has antigen B and antiibody A. Blood group AB has antigen A and B but has no antibody. Blood group O has no antigen but has antibodies A and b.
The antibody of the recipient (the one recieving blood) attacks the antigen of the donor (the one giving the blood). For example:If the recipient has blood group A and the donor has blood group B, the antibody B in the blood group A of the recipient will fight the antigen B in the blood group B of the donor and there will be probelms in the system of the recepient which can lead to death.
if the antibody of the recepient correspond to the antigen of the supposed donor, the supposed donor is not meant to transfer blood and vice versa. That is why Blood group AB is the universal recipient and Blood group O is the universal donor. It is also the reason why Blood group O can accept blood from blood group O only

People with blood group O have anti-A and anti-B antibodies, so they can only receive blood from group O to avoid immune reactions. However, they can donate to all other groups, which is why group O is called the universal donor
