The removal of all the phloem tissues of the stem of a plant close to the root system for a long period of time is likely to
provide more energy to the roots
accumulate more starch in the roots
cause the underground roots to develop buds
cause the p ant to wither and die

Phloem transports manufactured food to where they are needed in plant,so,when it is removed, manufactured food won't be able 2 translocate 2 where they are needed, hence, makes the plant 2 wither n die, plants behave similarly 2 human in some ways, its lyk not eating for a whole year,u knw wot dat means? :D

Phloem transports manufactured food from the leaves where the food is manufactured to where it is needed. If the phloem tissues close to the root are removed, it means that food will not be able to get to the root from the leaves and this will cause the plant to wither and die. Option B is incorrect since starch (food) cannot even get to the root so how much more accumulating there? :-D

Haros joy hmmm don't change biology bcos of my school answer. Pls the answer is B phoem tissue aids in translocation (nutrients to all parts of the plant) from the root of the plant where xylem act. If d phoem is removed d nutrient will accumulate at the root.

since the function phloem is the transportation of food to where needed in a plant, hence when there's absence of phloem, food substance accumulate
it should be B

IF the Phloem is removed normally the starch would accumulate in the roots
but according to the question the phloem was removed for a long time
making the plant to wilt and die
