snail: but all these organisms are finely adapted to their respective habitat, including the snail.

Explanation:
Insects breathe air by the tracheal system. .

Fishes possess paired gills for breathing in water.

Mouse is a mammal and there are a pair of lungs for exchanging respiratory gases.

Compared to those three organisms, snails generally lack a particular respiratory organ. May be this could be regarded as evolutionarily primitive condition of its resiratory system.

Snails always remain in moist/muddy areas and breathe air through moist skin. Air enters mantle cavity through respiratory pore/pneumostome where surrounding skin remains highly vascularised. Blood carries respiratory gases, and participates in gas exchange.

Guys, myschool is correct this time.
There is no classification for respiratory system but there is classification for organisms. since mollusca comes before the remaining option, therefore it is the answer. snail is correct. jamb only needs answers from the syllabus that has been given.

mollusca is the most primitive of all in the option therefore pointing to option A (snail)

The correct answer is A. snail. I will explain why....But first note that Invertebrates are the most primitive ao that nulifies fish and and mouse.

Snails have the most primitive respiratory system among the options. Many snails use a simple diffusion process through their skin or a basic lung-like structure called a pulmonary sac for respiration. In contrast:

Fish have gills, which are more specialized respiratory organs.

Insects have a tracheal system, which is more advanced than simple diffusion.

Mice have lungs, which are the most advanced respiratory system among the choices.

Thus, snails have the most primitive respiratory system.

Mouse? I so doubt that answer. It should be snail

primitive means like the basis upon which other structures are evolved as used in this context
Modern day evolution theory believes all lives starts from the sea hence fishes sems more appropriate
just a suggestion tho

DO SNAIL RESPIRE WITH GILLS

Insect is the correct answer, invertebrates have been in existence long before the vertebrates. The invertebrate's (e.g insect's) trachea are therefore earlier than any respiratory system present in vertebrates. Option C is the ans
