Weight of crucible = 5g
Weight of crucible + fresh soil before heating = 10g
Weight of crucible + fresh soil after heating = 8g
Weight of water loss = 10 - 8 = 2g
% H2O in soil = \(\frac{water loss}{wt. of fresh soil}\times 100\)
= \(\frac{2}{5}\times 100\)
= 40%
