What are the similarities between the nervous system and the endocrine system?
Both the nervous system and endocrine system are devoted to maintaining homeostasis by coordinating and regulating the activities of other cells, tissues, organs, and systems. Both systems are regulated by negative feedback mechanisms. Chemical messengers are important in both systems, although their method of transmission and release differs in the two systems.
Besides nervous system involves the use of neurotransmitters like serotonin but i don't really understand what they mean by widespread effect though nervous is more specific and endocrine make use of target organs with their specific receptors

the correct answer is A because in nervous system messages (information) are passed through electrical impulses while in endocrine system messages(information) are passed as chemical substances (hormones).if you doubt it just check your Morden biology page 405 then tell your self the truth

Both the nervous and endocrine systems function as the body's primary communication and regulation networks. While they differ in speed and duration, they share a fundamental reliance on chemical signaling to transmit information and coordinate responses
Endocrine System: Uses hormones, which are chemical messengers released by glands into the bloodstream to reach target cells throughout the body.
Nervous System: Uses neurotransmitters, which are chemical substances released at synapses (the gaps between neurons) to transmit signals across nerve cells or to muscles.

to me the ans is not tjere bcos endocrine sustem uses chemical impulses and nervous system uses electrical impulses

the correct answer is C.according to the question they said the basic''...so both of them depends solely on chemicals.

though I can't give u a page but I will advice u 2 go tru ur essential biology ... Topic: Nervous co-ordination ... Read the diff b/w nervous and hormonal co-ordination in the table very well .... I bet u , u will find out that both use chemicals ... So d answer is correct
