Egg formation is formed partly in the ovary and partly in the oviduct, where fertilization takes place. 1) In the ovary, the Yolk is being secreted and enclosed in a follicle. 2) At the infundibulum: The yolk released by the ovary is taken up by the infundibulum, the internal terminal part of the oviduct. Here, the egg stays for 15 minutes and moves into the magnum. 3) At Magnum: Albumen(egg white) and the chalaza are being secreted, and the egg stays there for 3 hours before moving down to the isthmus. 4) At Isthmus: The egg stays for 75 minutes. Here, two shell membranes are formed before they are deposited in the uterus. 5) At Uterus: Egg stays for 19_20 hours and hard shell is formed after which it moves into the vagina and finally laid out through the vent.
