(ii) Name the parts labelled I to VI.
(b) Describe briefly each of the implements illustrated by diagrams D and E
Explanation
(a) (i) Specimen D is Disc ridger/ Disk ridger, Specimen E is Seed dril/ planter / seed planter.
(ii) Parts Labelled;
- I - Point of attachment to the tractor
- Il - Disc
- Ill - Roller
- íV - Hopper / Seed Box
- V - Furrow opener / opening device,
- VI- Seed tube.
(b) Description of each specimen:
D - Ridger:
- There are five discs ín the diagram,
- the two discs in each part face each other.
- it has a strong metal beam linkíng all the discs.
- the beam is connected through strong frames to a point of attachment to the tractor.
- the shape is longitudinally symmetrical,
- it is made entirely of strong metal.
E seed drill / planter:
- has a large container or hopper.
- has a ratchet inside the hopper / container,
- it has an agtato inside the hopperl contaíner,
- has spaced coulters / furrow openers in front of hopper.
- has a roller behind the furrow Overing device.
- has two (long) handles.
- the whole equipment is mounted on two wheels.
