Explanation
(a) Naming of specimens;
- C - ranging pole,
- D - thread/line,
- F- nut,
- G - fish hook,
- M -grass stem/elephant grass stem.
(b) Name of farm equipment that can be assembled from specimens - hook and line/fishing line
(c) Advantages of using the equipment:
- easy to assemble
- use does not require much expertise
- cheap to acquire
- can be used in all water bodies
- all components are easily available
- little cost of maintenance.
(d) How the equipment is used:
- fix the tread to ranging pole, grass stem, nut, and the hook
- fix a suitable bait to the hook
- determine fishing depth and adjust the position of float
- insert into water: sinker drags the hook plus bait down the water depth
- watch float for an indication of a catch/sinking of float
- if a fish has been caught, pull it out of water
- remove fish from hook.
(e) Other equipment that can perform similar function as the equipment:
- fish trap
- Seine net
- drag net/trawl
- cast net
- spears
- fish baskets/basket
