(a)(i) Specimen M; Reproductive system of a hen or female bird. Oviduct of a hen.
(ii) Draw and label specimen M;
(b) Role of each part in the organ for carrying out its function:
- Funnel/infundibulum - Receives ova and site for fertilization of ova.
- Magnum - Albumin or egg white on yolk chalaza produced.
- Isthmus - Secretes materials for shell membranes, determines shape of egg.
- Uterus - Water and minerals are added to albumin, secretes calcium carbonate for egg shell.
- Vagina - Site for deposition of sperm - passage for egg.
- Cloaca - Complete egg passes from uterus to cloaca where it is expelled.
