Explanation

(a)(i) identification of Specimens H, I, J and K: Specimens: H- Shears |-Sickle J- Knapsack sprayer K-Wheelbarrow

(ii) Uses of Specimens J and K

Specimen J (Knapsack sprayer):

  • Used for spraying insecticides/fungicides/pesticides.
  • Used for spraying herbicides.
  • Used for light irrigation/watering of vegetable beds.
  • Used for spraying liquid fertilizers/foliar application of liquid fertilizer.
  • Used for spraying disinfectants on livestock houses and structure.

Specimen K (Wheel barrow): -

  • Used for carrying farm inputs,
  • Used for carrying farm outputs/products.
  • Used to dispose farm debrics and waste.
  • Used for carrying materials for building farm structures.

(iii) General ways of maintaining Specimens H (Shears) and I(Sickle):

  • Wash and dry after use clean after use.
  • Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Sharpen blades regularly.
  • Grease/lubricate metal blades before storage.
  • Keep wooden handles away from termites.
  • Replace worn-out parts.

(iv) Precautions to be taken when using Specimen J.

  • Use protective clothing when spraying.
  • Do not smoke., eat or drink when spraying.
  • Do not use it when it is windy.
  • Do not spray against the wind direction.
  • After use, always wash hands and face before attempting to eat, drink or smoke.
  • Never blow to clear the blocked nozzle with the mouth.
  • Clean or wash all protective clothing after use.
  • Dispose of all empty Containers safely into dug pits.
  • Wear a nose mask
  • Do not point the spray in the direction sprayer of persons, animal,s or food items.
  • Use separate sprayer for different chemicals to avoid mask contamination.
