B (Spade)

• Used in turning soil
• Digging soil for transplanting
• Mixing manure /spreading manure
• Making mounds or ridges or heaps/ seed bed making
• Mixing cement/ concrete for farm structures
• Mixing animal feed
• Removal of animal wastes
• Levelling soil surface
• For mixing soils and fertiliser
• For harvesting crops
• For light weeding

D(Hand trowel)

• Transplanting seedlings
• Used in fertiliser application / manure application
• Loosening vegetable beds
• Light weeding
• For mixing soil and fertiliser
• Digging holes for planting

F (Hand fork)

• Loosening surface soil / breaking soil clods
• Light weeding
• Mixing small quantities of soil / manure
• Working manure into soil

(b) Ways of maintaining specimen A (Axe)

• Sharpen blunt edge
• Keep wooden handle away from fire and termite
• Clean after use / wash and dry
• Rub metal blade with oil/ grease metal to avoid corrosion after use
• Store in a cool, dry place
