(a) (i) Area of farmland in hectares

Length 0.2km =200m
Breadth = 2,200m
Area of rectangle = length x breadth 
Area of farmland =200m x 2,200 = 440,000m²
1 hectare   = 10,000m\(^2\)
Area of farmland in hectares = \(\frac{440,000} {10,000}\) 

 

(b) (i) Importance of balance sheet to a farm manager

- Provides information on owner's equity

- Shows the extent of liability accrued over the year/ Shows assets and liabilities of the farm

- It is an indicator of farm's liquidity

- Assists in the assessment of management performance

- Shows the financial position of the farm 

- For tax purposes For budgeting and planning.

(c) Reasons why the floor of a deep litter house is preferably covered with wood shavings instead of sawdust

- Sawdust is very fine and can easily be inhaled by chickens

-Inhalation of sawdust by chickens can cause respiratory problems/nasal congestion

- Sawdust harbours pathogens 

- Sawdusts cakes easily

- Wood shavings absorb litter better than sawdust
