I love this question. You see both offers opposition to the flow of current in a circuit, but the distinct difference is that reactance is the

opposition of a circuit element to a change of electric current

or voltage, due to that element's inductance or capacitance, while resistance or electrical resistance of an electrical conductor is the

opposition to the passage of an electric current through that

conductor; the inverse quantity is electrical conductance,

the ease at which an electric current passes. Reactance is offered by basically inductor and capacitor, where both are called inductive reactance and capacitive reactance respectively.

Resistance is the opposition offer by a material to the flow of direct current while Reactance is the opposition to the flow of Alternating current.
