The statement added that the new dress code will take effect from Tuesday, May 2, 2023, and any student or staff member found wearing any of the banned regalia, would be denied effective access into any of the university facilities or be appropriately sanctioned.

Female students and female staff were advised to imitate the dressing culture of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Florence Obi, and her deputies, while male students and employees were admonished to emulate the dressing pattern of the university council chairman, Gen. Martin Luther-Agwai (retd.), and the Registrar, Mr. Gabriel Egbe.
