A corps member who was to be arraigned in court for inciting the public against the police has been pardoned by the Lagos state police command. 

Last Friday, July 22, the NYSC member recorded a video and posted it online after some police officers in the Ikorodu area of the state stopped and searched him and his brother while insisting they follow them to the station.

In the video, the corps member alleged that his refusal to follow the officers to the station led to the police assaulting him and then seizing his brother's phone.

Reacting to the video, the Lagos state police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, announced that the officers acted unprofessionally and have been identified, and that the corps member will be prosecuted for inciting the public against the police. 

In an update given last night via his Twitter handle, Hundeyin said the plan to prosecute the corps member has been waived.
