The Plateau State University, Bokkos is a conventional University, established with the instrument of Law and granted the certificate of recognition by the National Universities Commission (NUC) on 5th April, 2005 as the 24th State University and 66th University in Nigeria. The permanent site of the University is in Butura and Tarangol Axis of Bokkos Local Government Area, which classically showcases the natural endowment of Plateau State. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

PROFESSOR

i. Candidate must possess Ph.D. or fellowship (For College of Medicine) from a recognized institution in the relevant area of specialization, with at least twelve (12) years of cognate experience in teaching and research, preferably in a university system or similar institution.

ii. Candidate should be able to conduct research independently and have proven supervisory and administrative capabilities; and must also show evidence of acceptable scholarly publications in reputable National and International journals.

iii. Candidate is expected to have fair knowledge about the operations of a university system.

iv. Candidate should be on the rank of a Reader/Associate Professor.

v. Membership of professional body (where applicable) is an added advantage.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

i. Candidate must possess Ph.D. or fellowship (For College of Medicine) from a recognized institution in relevant area of specialization, with at least ten (10) years of cognate experience in teaching and research, preferably in a university system or similar institution.

ii. Candidate should be able to conduct research independently and have proven supervisory and administrative capabilities; and must also show evidence of acceptable scholarly publications in reputable National and International journals.

iii. Candidate is expected to have fair knowledge about the operations of a university system.

iv. Candidate should be on the rank of Senior Lecturer.

v. Membership of professional body (where applicable) is an added advantage.

SENIOR LECTURER

i. Candidate must possess Ph.D. or fellowship (For College of Medicine) from a recognized institution in relevant area of specialization, with at least seven (7) years of cognate experience in teaching and research, preferably in a university system or similar institution.

ii. Candidate should be able to conduct research independently and have proven supervisory and administrative capabilities and must also show evidence of acceptable scholarly publications in reputable National and International journals.

iii. Candidate is expected to have fair knowledge about the operations of a university system.

iv. Candidates should be on the rank of Lecturer I.

v. Membership of professional body (where applicable) is an added advantage.

LECTURER I

i. Candidate must possess Master’s Degree, MBBS, B. Pharm or Pharm D. from a recognized institution in relevant area of specialization, with at least five (5) years cognate experience and should demonstrate ability to carry out research in their areas of specialization.

ii. Candidate should be on the rank of Lecturer II.

iii. Possession of a Ph.D. is an added advantage.

iv. Membership of professional body (where applicable) is also an added advantage.

LECTURER II

i. Candidate must possess Master’s Degree in relevant area with at least three (3) years Teaching/Research experience.

ii. Membership of professional body (where applicable) is an added advantage.

ASSISTANT LECTURER

i. Candidate must possess Master’s Degree in relevant area with at least one (1) year Teaching/Research experience.

ii. Membership of professional body (where applicable) is an added advantage.

CONFIDENTIAL SECRETARY I

i. Candidate must possess a minimum of 4 O’ level credits in WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB or its equivalent, including English Language and first Degree or HND in Secretarial Studies, plus evidence of discharge or exemption certificate from NYSC.
