The Vice-Chancellor of the Abia State University, (ABSU), Uturu, Distinguished Professor O. M Ogbulu has warned students against engaging in any form of cultism or acts of indiscipline that could truncate their career, while commending them for their matured conducts, all throughout the period of lockdown and closure of schools in the country. 

Professor Ogbulu who stated this during a courtesy visit by the Students Union Government (SUG) and Students Representative Council (SRC) Executives of the University, explained that the management is happy with them and that they will all work in synergy to ensure ABSU moves to the next level under the present administration.

He commended the executives on their contributions in providing additional relevant social support to the students in the areas of water supply, environmental cleanliness and more, promising to improve the school amenities available for the overall welfare of all students in the University.

The VC informed the students that discussions are ongoing at the Federal level to power the entire University with solar energy soon, as part of the administration's effort to maintain a safe and conducive learning environment in the University, adding that there has been serious consultation with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues holding back resumption of academic activities.

In his address, the SUG President, Comrade John Nwakanma congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his appointment on behalf of the entire ABSU students and assured him of their support and resolve to continue to be good ambassadors of the University.

He also pleaded with the Vice-Chancellor to use his good office to follow up with the government on the promise of the N30,000 (Thirty thousand naira) bursary to students of the University to ensure prompt payment, as well as to look at some infrastructural challenges in the hostels.
