Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements


In UTME, please note that English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combination needed to study Architecture under the Faculty of Engineering, Environment & Technology in the above Universities include;

Physics, Mathematics, and any of Chemistry, Geography, Art, Biology and Economics.


SUBJECTS SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) ABSU requires Mathematics as UTME requirement.

(ii) CALEB requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Economics, Geography, Biology and Chemistry, Fine Arts and Technical Drawing.

(iii) CRUTECH requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Economics and any one of Accounting, Commerce and Government.

(iv) FUTA requires Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Geography and Technical Drawing.

(v) UNILAG requires Mathematics, Physics and any one of Chemistry, Biology, Economics or Geography.(vii) OAU requires Mathematics plus any other two (2) subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Fine Arts and Building Construction.

(vi) OOU requires Mathematics and any two (2) of Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Fine Arts, Economics and Geography.

(vii) RSUST requires Mathematics, Physics and any other subjects from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Geography, Economics, Fine Arts and Building Construction.

 

O'Level Requirements


The O'level subject combination and requirements needed to study Architecture;

You require;

Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any of Fine Art, Geography or Wood Work, Biology, Economics, Technical Drawing, Further. Mathematics., Introduction to Building Construction, Bricklaying/Block laying, Concreting, Wall, Floors and Ceiling Finishing, Joinery, Carpentary, Decorative Painting, Lining, Sign and Design, Wall Hanging , Colour Mixing/Matching and Glazing, Ceramics, Graphics Design, Graphic Printing, Basic Electricity.


SUBJECTS SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) AAU and ABSU - Chemistry not compulsory.

(ii) ABSU requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) from Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Biology, Surveying etc.

(iii) ABU requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes including English Language, Physics and Mathematics, plus any two (2) of Geography, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Wood/Metal Work.

(iv) BAUCHI requires five (5) 'O' level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and any two (2) from of Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Art, Geography, Economics, Building Construction and Land Surveying.

(v) BELLS requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two (2) from the following: Chemistry, Biology, Technical Drawing/Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Building Construction and Land Surveying.

(vi) CALEB same as in Building Technology.

(vii) COOU accepts ‘0’ level pass in English Language.

(viii) CRESCENT requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two (2) subjects from Chemistry, Economics, Fine Arts, Geography, Biology, Technical Drawing, Building Construction and Land Surveying.

(ix) ESUT requires ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two (2) from Chemistry, Art, Geography, Biology and Economics.

(x) FUTA requires five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes at NOT more than two (2) sittings in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Physics, and two (2) ‘0’ level credit passes from Technical Drawing, Chemistry, Geography, Fine Arts and Economics. Candidates must have at least a pass in Chemistry.

(xi) JABU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Physics, Mathematics, chemistry and any one of Geography, Fine Arts, Woodwork, Technical Drawing, Biology or Economics plus ND upper credit in relevant programmes.

(xii) UNIJOS accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Drawing or five (5) Arts or Applied Arts and one (1) of History, Economics, Geography and Chemistry.

(xiii) UNILAG requires ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Fine Arts or Technical Drawing and any one (1) of Economics, Geography, Chemistry, Biology, Painting and Decoration/Building Construction.

(xiv) LAUTECH accepts ’O’ level credit pass in Technical Drawing or Fine Arts in lieu of Biology.

(xv) MAUTECH requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Agricultural Science/Geography/Further Mathematics/ Technical Drawing/ Welding and Fabrication Engineering, Craft Practice.

(xvi) RSUST requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes including Physics, English Language and Mathematics and any two (2) subjects from Geography, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Chemistry, Building Construction and Economics at not more than two (2) sittings.

(xvii) UNN requires ‘O’ level credit passes in Mathematics, English Language, Physics and any two (2) of Technical Drawing, Building Construction, Woodwork, Fine Art, Geography and Economics.

Direct Entry Requirements


These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Architecture, if you don't intend to use UTME.

You require;

(i) Two (2) 'A' level passes chosen from Mathematics or Physics and Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.

(ii) ND/HND upper credits in relevant field.

SUBJECTS SPECIAL CONSIDERATION (WAIVER) REMARKS

(i) AAU and RSUST accept ND/HND upper credit in relevant programmes into 200 and 300 level respectively plus UTME requirements. RSUST requires A’ level passes in Mathematics and Physics and any other three (3) subjects from English Language, Building Construction, Fine Arts, Technical Drawing, Chemistry may be admitted into 200 level.

(ii) AAU, UNIJOS, LAUTECH, OAU and UYO require ND/HND upper credit in Architecture or other relevant qualifications, plus the UTME requirements. UYO accepts HND lower credit. DELSU requires ‘A’ level passes in either Mathematics or Physics.

(iii) ABSU accepts ND/ HND in relevant programmes plus the UTME requirements.

(iv) ABU accepts two (2) 'A' level/IJMB passes which must include Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry, Geography or Fine Arts.

(v) BAUCHI

a) requires two (2) ‘A’ level passes or equivalents in Mathematics, Physics and any of Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography,Economics, Building Construction and Land Surveying.

b) accepts ND/HND upper credit in Architecture.

(vi) BELLS accepts

a) two (2) ‘A' level passes from Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.

b) ND/HND upper credit in Architecture. c) may consider ND/HND lower credit.

(vii) CALEB accepts ND credit in Architecture or Science related programmmes plus the UTME requirements.

(viii) COOU accepts ND/HND lower credit in Architecture.

(ix) CRESCENT accepts

a) ‘A' level/IJMB passes in Mathematics and Physics or and any other subject indicated above.

b) ND/ HND credit in Architecture or allied programme can be considered for admission into the appropriate level.

(x) FUTA accepts

a) ND upper credit in Architecture or related programmes from NBTE accredited institutions may be considered for admission provided they meet the minimum entry requirements.

b) candidates with the 'A' level passes in at least two (2) subjects from Mathematics, Geography and Physics can also be considered for admission provided they meet the minimum entry requirements.

(xi) JABU accepts five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in relevant subjects plus ND upper credit.

(xii) KUST runs the programmes for a four (4) year duration for UTME and a three (3) year duration for DE at the moment. May consider HND upper credit or degree (Third Class) in Architectural Technology for a special admission into 300 level.

(xii) UNILAG requires

a) passes in three (3) JUPEB/‘A’ level subjects : Mathematics, Physics, and any one of Chemistry, Biology, Economics or Geography or Fine Arts.

b) HND/ND distinction in Architecture into 200 or 300 level plus UTME requirements.

(xiv) LAUTECH accepts

a) 'A’ level passes in two (2) subjects and any of Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Fine Arts and Mathematics

b) ND/HND upper credit in Architecture may be considered for admission into 200 level.

(xv) MAUTECH accepts two (2) `A' level passes from Mathematics, Physics and any one of Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography and Economics.

(xvi) FUTMINNA accepts candidates who have undergone an accredited course in Architecture in any of the approved Colleges of Technology or Polytechnics in addition to the UTME requirements.

(xvii) OAU requires three (3) ‘A’ level passes chosen from Mathematics, and two (2) other subjects from Physics, Economics and Technical Drawing.

(xviii) UNN accepts

a) ND upper credit in Architectural Technology or Building Technology plus the UTME requirements.

b) A' level, HSC or equivalent passes in Mathematics and Physics, and any other subject plus UTME requirements.

(ix) IMSU - requires 'A' level passes in Mathematics and Physics and accepts NCE credit in relevant subjects.
