Bye-laws (or by-laws) are local laws or regulations made by local government authorities or executive bodies under powers given to them by an Act of the legislature. They are part of what is called delegated (or subsidiary) legislation, meaning the legislature grants authority to the executive (for example, ministries, agencies, or local councils) to make detailed rules for effective administration.
