Explanation

(a) (i) What is Computer Ethics?

Computer ethics is defined as the set of moral principles/values that regulates the use of computers. OR Computer ethics is a part of practical philosophy concerned with how computing professionals should make decisions regarding professional and social conduct. OR Computer ethics can be defined as a set of acceptable behavior exhibited within a computer environment to ensure safety of users, computer devices, software and the computer environment.

(ii) State three computer room management ethics;

(a) Avoiding use of devices from untrusted sources.

(b) Avoid unauthorized access.

(c) Observing copyrights

(d)Avoid stealing/cheating with computers

(e) No visitors should be allowed

(f) There should be proper sitting arrangement (free low of movement)

(g) Avoid explosive materials

(h) Always set the computers before students come in

(i) There shoud be appropriate lighting system (illumination).

(j) Always maintain a dust-free  environment 

(k) There must be appropriate ventilation/working  air conditioning

(l) Always avoid taking any liquid into the computer room.

(m) Ensure that all apparatus are properly switch off after use.

(b) List five laboratory rules and regulations 

(i) Students are prohibited enter the laboratory

(ii) Ensure that all disks/diskettes are scanned before using them

(iii) No equipment should be moved from its original position.

(iv) Do not load or remove software from the system.

(v) Do not change the settings in the computer.

(vi) Ensure that all works are saved in external storage device and not in the computer.

(vii) Turn off the computer after use

(viii) Do not bring in bags, food and drink into the laboratory.

(ix) Internet facility is strictly for educational purpose only.

(x) Teachers should record the use of computer laboratory in the computer log book

(xi) All users should record the use of computer in the log book

(xii) The laboratory should be kept clean and tidy at all times

(xiii) Switch off all power supplies before leaving the laboratory

(viv) Be responsible when using equipments, software and facility in the laboratory

(xv) Proper shut down of computers.
