In 2 Kings 5:1-14, Naaman, a commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a leper. He came to Israel seeking a cure for his leprosy. The king of Israel is upset by this request, and responds with: ''Am I god, to kill and to make alive, that this man sends words to me to cure a man of his leprosy....'' Prophet Elisha, upon hearing about this, sent a message to the king, telling him not to be distressed and instructing him to send Naaman to him.
