Paul's advice about family life: (a) Paul advised that wives must be subject to their husbands. That husband must love their wives and not be harsh with them. Children are to be obedient to their parents in everything. He further said that this is what God ordains and approves. He advised fathers not to provoke their children to anger. Lest they may become discouraged and disenchanted. Slaves are to obey their earthly masters in everything. According to him, such obedience should be sincere with singleness of mind and with fear of God. It should not be an eye service / not designed to please men.
(b) Ways in which the family can be firmly established;
(i) A family that prays together stays together.
(ii) When each member performs his / her duty, there will be peace.
(iii) The father to be respected as the Head of the family.
(iv) The wife to obey the husband, who in turn must love the wife.
(v) Children to obey and love parents.
(vi) Parents to pay attention to the social and moral well-being of their children.
(vii) Discipline to be maintained in the home.
(viii) Children should not be discouraged in any form.
