(a) Functions and uses of specimens:

• Specimen D - hoe : weeding, harvesting. making heaps or ridges/tillage or irrigation furrow., for transplanting or planting
• Specimen E- rake: - clearing and packing plant debris or trash or stones; spreading or levelling soil., breaking up of small soil clods or pulverising
• Specimen F- Pliers: -Cutting wires, holding or handing of bolts and nuts, gripping firmly and twisting wires.
• Specimen G - axe: - is used for cutting wood, for felling trees slicing woods or splitting woods, and stumping.
• Specimen H - hand trowel., is used for transplanting seedlings. light digging of soil., application of fertilizers/manures., light weeding - planting, mixing soil and fertilizer

(b) Methods of maintenance:

Specimen D-hoe:

• clean steel or metal blade after use,
• wash and dry
• keep away from attack by termites (if wooden handle).,
• store in a cool and dry place
• sharpen blunt blades.
• oil metal part/blade and replace damaged parts.

Specimen E-rake:

• clean and wipe wash and dry after use
• keep wooden handle away from termites attack
• straighten bent prongs.,
• oil metal part.
• store in a cool dry place or farm store 
• Replace damage part 

Specimen F -Pliers:

• oil or grease metal part or moveable joints.,
• Store in a cool dry place or tool box.

Specimen G - Axe;

• wipe steel blade clean after use or wash and dry.
• keep wooden handle from termites' attack.,
• Sharpen blunt blades.,
• Store in a cool dry place
• oil metal blade.

Specimen H-hand trowel:

• clean and wipe dry after use or wash and dry
• keep away from attack by termites if wooden handle.
• oil metal part.
